What Is Memory Tags?
Memory Tags is a service where you can create personalized QR codes that link to a virtual memorial webpage. This memorial webpage allows family and friends to input information about the deceased, including photos, life history, and allows them to add social media links of the person who has passed. Some examples of these links could be Family Tree, Facebook, Instagram, Ancestry, and/or their obituary. This living memorial can be accessed at the gravesite via a QR code from a small, metal plaque that can be placed on the headstone or by simply searching their name on our website.
With the purchase of a Memory Tag, one gains access to a webpage that is fully customizable and user-friendly. Simply input the information in the input fields, upload pictures, and any other important links that you may want to add. Once this is done, hit “Publish” and the page is now live for others to visit, or it can be set to private where special permission is required to view it. Even after you publish this page, you can still go back to edit the page if you want to add or take anything away from it. This allows you to update it over time with more important information that you may learn and want to contribute to their living memorial.
Additionally, your purchase of a Memory Tag comes with a plaque that is designed to be placed on the headstone of the deceased. It’s a stainless-steel plaque (approximately 2” x 2”) with QR code on it. QR codes are accessed by using one’s smart phone. The QR code is unique to every plaque and links to their specific page. From here, people can share their favorite memories about this person, check out their social media links, and read up on fun facts about them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Memory Tags are meant to help create and keep intimate connections with those who have gone on before us. Whether this be a family member, a friend, or even a pet, Memory Tags are there to keep their memory alive going forward.
Memory Tags can be purchased at any time. Whether your loved one just passed, or it’s been several years, a Memory Tag can help achieve your goal of keeping their legacy around.
Just because they are gone, does not mean they should be forgotten. Here at Memory Tags, our goal is exactly that; to preserve the legacy of those that have gone before us and share it with those that are yet to come. Memory Tags aims to keep these priceless memories for current and future generations to learn from and to enjoy.
There are two parts to this. First, the moment you purchase a Memory Tag, you will have instant access to begin working on the webpage. This allows you to have it ready for the funeral, if you choose to do so. The second part is the actual metal plaque. This can take one to two weeks, depending on shipping and current demands.
Obituaries are essential in providing a brief life summary in the event of losing a loved one. Often times, these obituaries help those attending the services see a small glimpse of the life of the deceased. They are intentionally brief as family and friends are faced with a whirlwind of other decisions that are left to be made when someone passes away.
Although one may choose to use their Memory Tag as their platform to input their information for an obituary, that is not our primary objective. Ideally, when people have more time after they have put their loved one to rest, they will be able to come and put more thought into their website and make it more personable. In the rush of planning for the funeral service, important details may be forgotten from the obituary. Memories Tags aims to provide a way for people to have more time to put in the additional details that may have been left off the obituary.
Once written and published, obituaries are static, never to be changed or updated again. With a Memory Tag it is meant to be viewed as a living memorial. A place where information, pictures, and videos can be added or taken away over the years. Additionally, with the feature “Share a Memory” on the page, people will be able to share their memories of the deceased, further preserving these memories for future generations.
We encourage everyone to link the obituaries of their loved one to their Memory Tag website.
Yes, absolutely! Not everyone may want the website that we have to offer and that is alright. If you want the metal plaque with a QR code that goes to the obituary or some other link, we are happy to help accommodate. Even if you want the plaque blank because you want to put something else on it, we can do that as well.
Yes, absolutely! We understand that not everyone will want the QR code on their headstones with our metal plaques, but they may still want access to the website features. This is no problem, and we are happy to be able to provide this service for you.
Yes, absolutely! Once purchased, you will be able to have access to the QR for your page. It can be shared via a link, or it can be downloaded and shared that way. This way, you can put the QR code on whatever else you would like.

About Us:
Memory Tags was founded in 2023 by two registered nurses. For these two nurses, helping others was something that was at the core of each of them and they had spent years helping people heal and return to their normal lives. On rare occasions, some people would pass away during their care. When this did happen, these nurses often were the last people to see these individuals alive. Neither of them had backgrounds in web development or the funeral space, but after years of seeing people pass, they knew they wanted to do something to help preserve the legacies of those that have passed on.
The Covid-19 Pandemic really spurred this idea on, as many young people lost their lives. The question that started to form for these nurses was, “How are people going to remember this young person 30, 40, or even 50 years from now?” And from this question, the idea of Memory Tags was born.
